Arizona: Mogollon Rim

If I could think of one word to describe Arizona it would be diverse. The Mogollon Rim is a place full of wonders as well as secrets; much of the state is still undeveloped wilderness and can get very remote. A vast array of places can be had within a day’s venture, from high peaks to slickrock plateaus to deep mossy slot canyons. For those who seek these dubious canyons, the price of admission is high but rewarding. They are often difficult to find, full of cold water, questionable anchors and require brutal return hikes. Yet if you happen to find one, you will not forget it; some of the most rugged and fantastic wilderness in the West can be found deep within the forest.
